Byron Bay has more that its share of celebrities but Rusty Miller has attained the status of Legend. He’s been in the Shire since 1970, and has been at the heart of Byron Bay’s surf culture for over 40 years, arriving from Southern California as the US Surf Champion in 1965 and the captain of the US team for the World Surfing Championships in 1966.

Rusty Miller’s Surf School has been recognised by National Geographic Traveler as one of the top ten surf schools in the world. Clients of Rusty’s one on one style of teaching have included identities such as supermodel Elle MacPherson and philosopher Peter Singer.

Rusty’s personalised approach to teaching surfing gives his students “a method of how to teach yourself how to learn the art of surfboard riding.”

Congratulations to Rusty Miller for this impressive achievement.
